Training Description
Ethical assessment and treatment is a mainstay of clinical practice in behavioral healthcare settings, including those in which sexual offenders are clients. In this training, the expert presenter will identify key differences between law and ethics and go on to discuss the specific issues of informed consent, duty to warn, professional wills, technology, and self-care. Case studies will be used for illustrative purposes.
Trainer Biography
Erik Fox, JD, PhD is one of only 39 certified Static-99R trainers in the world approved by the developers of the instrument. A licensed psychologist and attorney for over 15 years, he worked as the director of a sexual offender treatment program in San Diego and regularly testifies as an expert witness in civil commitment trials. He currently serves as the Chair of both the Education and Training Committee as well the Ethics Committee for ATSA, the Association for the Treatment of Sexual Abusers.
