Trainer Biography
Richard Rogers, Ph.D., ABPP, is a Regents Professor of Psychology at the University of North Texas. Dr. Rogers continues as editor and author of five chapters in the award-winning book, Clinical Assessment of Malingering and Deception. Most recently published in 2008, the expanded fourth edition is due to be published. He is also the principal author of the Structured Interview of Reported Symptoms (SIRS) and its second edition (SIRS-2). The SIRS/SIRS-2 is often considered the premier measure for feigned mental disorders. Dr. Rogers is a prolific researcher and author; of his more than 200 refereed articles, 55 focus on clinical and theoretical aspects malingering and feigning. Dr. Rogers is nationally recognized for his contributions to forensic psychology and psychiatry. National awards include (1) the Guttmacher Award from the American Psychiatric Association, (2) Distinguished Contributions to Forensic Psychology Award from the American Academy of Forensic Psychologists, and (3) the Amicus Award for the American Academy of Psychiatry and Law. Dr. Rogers’s accomplishments are recognized far beyond forensic psychology and psychiatry. In 2007, he was honored by the Society of Clinical Psychology. More recently, Dr. Rogers became only the fourth psychologist in the history of American Psychological Association (APA) to receive APA awards for Distinguished Professional Contributions to both Applied Research (2008) and Public Policy (2011).
