The comprehensive training is divided into three sections. In the first section, the development of the MIDSA is discussed and a summary of research findings is provided. In the second section, the different sections of the MIDSA report are reviewed, with specific attention paid to the wealth of developmental and life history information collected by the MIDSA that is often absent in archival files. Interpretation of MIDSA scales is then discussed, with examples of their relevance to treatment planning. In the third section, a demonstration is provided of how to administer and obtain reports for the MIDSA.

Trainer Biography
Judith Sims-Knight, Ph.D., is Chancellor Professor of Psychology at the University of Massachusetts, Dartmouth. She is a developmental psychologist who has studied the development of higher-order thinking and expertise for forty years. In the last fifteen years she has added a second line of research, exploring aggression, particularly sexual aggression, and bullying. She is the co-creator of the Multidimensional Inventory of Development, Sex, and Aggression (MIDSA), which is the inventory that will be demonstrated in the current workshop. Her primary interests in this domain are the etiology and differentiation of various components of aggression and bullying, and in gender differences in aggression and sexual aggression.
Raymond Knight, Ph.D., has been teaching at Brandeis University since 1971, and is currently Professor Emeritus. He has been doing research on sexual aggression for nearly four decades. He has developed and validated both taxonomic and etiological models for rapists and child molesters and has completed a 25-year follow-up of sex offenders released from the Massachusetts Treatment Center. He is the co-creator of the Multidimensional Inventory of Development, Sex, and Aggression (MIDSA), a computerized contingency-based inventory that provides a comprehensive assessment of multiple critical areas of adaptation for juveniles and adults who have sexually offended. He has over 150 publications in the areas of sexual aggression, psychopathy, and schizophrenia. He has served as president of both the Society for Research in Psychopathology and the Association for the Treatment of Sexual Abusers. He has been honored with awards for his teaching, his mentorship of students, and his research.
