Training Description
The Good Lives Model (GLM) is a strengths-based rehabilitation approach that augments the risk, need, and responsivity principles of effective correctional intervention through its focus on assisting clients to develop and implement meaningful life plans that are incompatible with future offending. While much has been written on the GLM, this workshop focuses on how the GLM –properly adapted – can be used with young women. This 1.5-hour webinar closely examines many of its individual tenets (e.g., approach goals, primary goods). Consideration is given to family involvement and how the etiology of problem sexual behavior often results from challenges in attaining goals that are common to all human beings. Finally, this webinar describes a workbook for using the GLM with young women who exhibit a wide range of problem behaviors.
Trainer Biographies
Mr. David Prescott is the Clinical Services Development Director for the Becket Family of Services. He is the National Adolescent Perpetration Network (NAPN)’s Chairman and 2018 recipient of NAPN’s C. Henry Kempe Lifetime Achievement award. He is a past president of the Association for the Treatment of Sexual Abusers (ATSA) and 2014 recipient of that organization’s Distinguished Contribution award. Mr. Prescott has authored and edited 19 book projects and lectures around the world.
Dr. Tyffani Dent the Director of Monford-Dent Consulting, a member of the NAMI-Greater Cleveland Board of Directors, and an Executive Board Member for the Treatment of Sexual Abusers. In addition, Dr. Dent is the developer of Sisters of Tamar Support Circle (SoTSC), a faith-based sex abuse survivors' support group. She has authored and co-authored four books, including two projects involving the Good Lives Model for young women.
