Training Description
This 1.5-hour workshop will provide an overview of the penile plethysmograph (PPG), including the research related to the validity and reliability of the PPG. Participants will be provided with a basic understanding of the procedure as well as the types of clients most appropriate for referral. Additionally, the workshop will assist participants in understanding information necessary for preparing clients for a PPG assessment. Workshop participants will leave the workshop with an understanding of the advantages and limitations of the PPG assessment. The presenter will provide an overview of understanding PPG assessment results and an understanding of the usefulness of PPG results in a comprehensive treatment plan. Time will be allotted for questions and answers.
Trainer Biography
Elizabeth Griffin is a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist with over thirty years’ experience assessing and treating adults who struggle with problematic sexual behaviors, including sexually compulsive behaviors and sexual offense behaviors. She specializes in assessing and treating individuals who have engaged in online sexual offense behavior. Ms. Griffin has worked in a variety of settings including in-patient, out-patient, military, prison, and civil commitment. She lectures and consults nationally on the assessment and treatment of problematic online sexual behaviors, sexual offending behaviors and sexual compulsivity. She has been trained in administering the penile plethysmograph for over 30 years and has provided numerous workshops related to the PPG assessment. Ms. Griffin has published numerous academic articles on issues related to problematic sexual behavior. She is co-author of several books and workbooks including In the Shadows of the Net, Cybersex Unhooked, Cybersex Unplugged and Illegal Images.
