Training Description
The Structured Assessment of Protective Factors (SAPROF) is an internationally-used risk assessment tool developed to supplement the HCR-20 and similar instruments by adding protective factors for violence into the case formulations of adult violent and sexual offenders. Information on internal, external, and motivational factors is gathered via file review and a semi-structured interview, resulting in a structured professional judgment concerning the risk of future violence. Research examining the SAPROF has demonstrated high rates of accuracy and inter-rater reliability. Presented by a co-developer of the SAPROF, this certified non-interactive workshop will train you in the use of the SAPROF while earning 4 hours of valuable Continuing Education Credit.
The development of the SAPROF will be discussed, item-by-item instructions will be given on how to reliably score the measure and interpret its findings, a review of the peer-reviewed research on the SAPROF will be provided, and guidance will be put forth on how to apply SAPROF reporting conventions. Case studies will be employed to allow you to practice using the tool’s manual and to learn to avoid common administration errors.
Attendees should have access to a SAPROF manual purchasable through the instrument’s distributor(s). For details, visit: http://www.saprof.com/content/2012/11/Order-manuals
