Training Description
This training will explore treatment implications for young people who have abused and who use pornography. It focuses on how research can inform our understanding and treating this population of adolescents and offers concrete suggestions for assessment and treatment. The training will explore broad issues related to the complexities of adolescent development, including risk and protective factors, abuse and desistance processes, and then focuses on the role of pornography in the lives of young people generally. It describes a number of perspectives and controversies in the field (e.g., the nature of addiction). The workshop then moves into case examples and treatment recommendations. Co-occurring factors will also be considered such as trauma history and the family environment.
