Training Description
The Personality Assessment Inventory (PAI) is among the most commonly-used personality assessment tools by behavioral health and correctional professionals. Providing information relevant for clinical diagnosis, treatment planning, and screening for psychopathology, the PAI is comprised of 344 items and provides a broad-based assessment of mental disorders and symptom validity. Officially authorized by the PAI’s publisher and presented by a leading PAI trainer, this workshop is eligible for 6 hours of valuable Continuing Education Credit. Use of the PAI scales in the context of RNR decision-making will be reviewed, strengths and weaknesses of the PAI as it pertains to clinical evaluations will be identified, methods of interpreting PAI score configurations will be described, PAI indicators of profile invalidity will be summarized, the efficacy of the PAI with racial/ethnic minorities will be explored, and the use of both the PAI Adolescent (PAI-A) and PAI Interpretive Report for Correctional Settings (PAI-CS) will be examined. In addition, case studies will be employed to allow you to practice using the PAI and its interpretive reports.
Trainer Biography
Mark Ruiz, PhD, ABPP is a Licensed Psychologist providing forensic mental health evaluations in Florida as well as a co-author of the Personality Assessment Inventory Interpretive Report for Correctional Settings (PAI-CS). He is certified as a specialist in forensic psychology from the American Board of Professional Psychology with particular specialization in competency to stand trial/proceed, mental state at the time of offense, violence and sexual recidivism risk assessment, and sentencing mitigation. Dr. Ruiz is an Associate Editor of Assessment and has published over 25 research studies in peer-reviewed scientific journals. A veteran of the United States Army, he served as an infantry officer and he deployed with the Florida National Guard's 53rd Infantry Brigade to Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom.
