Training Description
Approximately half of recorded child molestations and a fifth of recorded rapes are committed by juveniles. Hence, assigning an appropriate level of continuing care, supervision, and/or treatment guided by evidence-based risk assessment instruments is critical for juvenile sexual abusers. The aim of this two-hour training is to review the state of risk and protective factor research for this specific population. Validated sexual and non-sexual risk assessment instruments for juvenile abusers will be identified, and guidelines for instrument selection will be put forward. Finally, practical tips are shared for collecting data and conducting interviews as part of the risk assessment process.
